Its a combination of layering and splitting the frequencies. When I split the frequencies I like to make sure the lows are in mono (this includes the kick drum). I like to stereo separate the mids and sometimes the highs depending on the sound cause it can sometimes sound rubbish LOL.

dude, so you need a drop less than 2 min for dubstep to create intensity and curiousity. but I gave you a 4 only for that because the chord prog. was amazing. can you check out my music and critique it?

Haha, totally get what you're saying there. This track definitely wouldn't work live. Glad I got that song out of my system (worked way too long on it) and I'm happy with how it turned out, but I could have done more to create interest at the beginning.

turned out pretty well. only thing I would say is that in the intro the piano is a lot more outgoing than the rest. please check out my music. just released a demo. please tell me whats wrong or right with it so I can finish it (if you like dubstep) :D
